We’ll also have a Q&A session for the parents to learn how our Pack functions, so come to our September Pack Meeting to learn all about Pack 2!

AOL Scout Parent Meeting

AOL Scouts (5th Graders) cross over from Cub Scouts to Scouts BSA , formerly called Boy Scouts, in the Spring of the year. It’s an exciting time for both Cubs and their parents!

As Cubs cross over, there are a few things we want to share with parents both about Pack 2’s crossover activities as well as Scouts BSA itself, which is different in a number of ways from Cub Scouting. At this PARENTS ONLY meeting, leaders from both our Cub Scout Pack and our affiliated Scouts BSA Troop (Troop 2) will be present to talk with parents about the crossover, how Scouts BSA differs from Cub Scouting and answer any other questions parents may have.

If you currently have an AOL (5th Grade) Scout, even if he or she is not sure they’ll go into Scouts BSA, we strongly encourage you to attend this meeting.

The Pinewood Derby!

Due to the snowstorm expected for Jan 29th, this year’s Pinewood Derby will now be held on Saturday, February 5th!

Cub Scouts! Start your engines!

Our annual Pinewood Derby races will be held at Rye Presbyterian Church from 4-6 PM on Saturday, February 5th. Come cheer on your car and those of your Denmates! We are holding it in-person this year, so we hope you’ll be there.

By popular demand, we’ll also be Livestreaming the Derby on YouTube (as we did last year). It seems folks loved being able to have Grandparents and other family members watch the races, so we’ll do it again.

Details how to watch the livestream have been sent via our Pack Announcements to help ensure we do not have any unwanted guests join us. Please contact your Den Leader if you have not received the link.

Pinewood Derby Check-In / Impounding (Mandatory)

Pinewood Derby Check-In / Impounding (Mandatory)

In order to race your car at Pack 2’s Pinewood Derby, it has to pass inspection at this event.

To do so, you MUST bring your Pinewood Derby car for inspection and impounding at Rye Presbyterian Church between 7 and 9 PM according to the schedule below. It will be weighed, measured and inspected for compliance with the rules, which you can find here on the Files page of our website. Then it will be impounded until the races — you will not get it back until after the race.

There are many other rules, but please note that the problem we see most often is Cubs putting weights on the underside of their cars — you can only do so if you fully recess them inside the car; otherwise they will make the car unable to race as it will drag on the track , which rises up between the wheels!

Inspection Schedule:

7PM - Tigers (1st Grade)

7:30 - Wolves (2nd Grade)

8PM - Bears (3rd Grade)

8:30 - Webelos/AOL (4th & 5th Grade)
